AI in your interview evaluation
Axil is a hiring-operations platform used by recruiters and hiring managers to structure their interviews and synthesize feedback. The platform uses AI (large language models) in three places. This page explains what the AI does, what it does not do, and your rights as a candidate.
What the AI does
- Transcribes your interview recordings into text, with speaker labels (via Recall.ai and Whisper).
- Summarises the transcript and the hiring team's structured feedback into a debrief document for the hiring manager.
- Highlights alignment and gaps between the candidate's background and the role's requirements, based on the team's feedback.
What the AI does not do
- It does not make hiring decisions. Humans always decide who is hired.
- It does not analyse emotion, voice, biometrics, or facial expressions. Axil processes text only.
- It does not infer protected characteristics (age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, etc.) and does not produce a score or ranking of candidates.
- It does not share your data with third parties beyond the specific AI providers used to deliver the service (Anthropic for LLM, Recall.ai for transcription, Resend for email) - all bound by data-processing agreements.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Object to your interview being transcribed. Use the link in the email Axil sent you when you were added.
- Object to your CV being stored for 12 months. Same link.
- Ask the hiring company how AI was used in your evaluation. The hiring company can show you the AI's summary of their feedback.
- Request deletion of all your data. Use the deletion request form.
Legal basis
Axil processes your data on the basis of legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) - to enable the hiring company to consider you for the role. You have the right to object under Article 21. Where applicable, the processing is also disclosed under EU AI Act Article 26(7) as a deployer transparency obligation.
Compliance posture
Axil is designed against the EU AI Act's high-risk-AI framework for employment-screening systems. Standards under the Act are still being finalised; we do not claim certification under them. Current safeguards include: text-only processing (no biometrics), no automated decision-making on hiring, human-in-the-loop synthesis review, and mandatory human disclaimers on every AI-generated output in the platform.
